## About

Kino Toni & Tonino is a historic cinema located at Antonplatz in Berlin's Weißensee district. Originally opened in 1920 as the Decla-Lichtspiele, it was designed by architects Fritz Wilms and Max Bischoff. Over the decades, the cinema underwent several transformations, including a period as the UFA-Theater and later as the Toni Film-Bühne. After World War II, it was reopened in 1948 and became a prominent cultural venue in East Berlin.

In 1992, renowned film director Michael Verhoeven acquired the cinema, renovating it and adding a second, smaller auditorium named Tonino in 1996. The venue now comprises two screens: the main hall, Toni, with 275 seats, and the more intimate Tonino, seating 102. Known for its eclectic programming, Kino Toni & Tonino showcases a mix of European arthouse films, socially conscious documentaries, and contemporary German cinema.
