In Memoriam – Against their will (2026)

The historical film "In Memoriam" tells the story of the Alsatians and Lorrainers who were forcibly conscripted into the German army during the Second World War as "Malgré-Nous" (against our will). Director Benjamin Steinmann began writing the screenplay at the age of twelve and made his first film without financial support using amateur actors. The film is about rejection and belonging and ultimately about the search for one's own identity for an entire generation from a region that later became the heart of Europe.
