In the 1940s, there were pure women's bands who played the best jazz of their time. The "International Sweethearts of Rhythm" mixed vigorously in the jazz business since their inception in 1939 - as a 16-piece women's power orchestra that made it to the biggest clubs of New York and Chicago. Musicians such as trumpeter Tiny Davis or drummer Ruby Lucas not only shared the swing with each other, but also a lifelong relationship. Singers like Maxine Sullivan rose from humble backgrounds to become America's most sought-after jazz stars. Gretra Schiller and Andrea Weiss have met Maxine Sullivan, Tiny and Ruby and the still living "Sweethearts" and questioned about their extraordinary career. Original archival material gives the impression of personality and courage of the musicians and of the fascination of their performances. Exciting biographies come to light and a special female artist scene is celebrated for the first time.
