The Ones Who Grieve (2026)

At the end of the 19th century, Zélie lives on a remote farm in the stranglehold of her father Jacob. He appeals to his faith, but that does not keep him from cruelty: beneath pious words, he keeps his daughter small, while her mother has long since been broken by his harshness. But even beyond the farm, the world is falling apart. A mysterious plague, the "Black Veil," is spreading and robbing people of their minds. However, how the infected are dealt with extinguishes any notion of compassion.

Director Quarxx conjures a dark, invented era that transplants the rugged loneliness of a Western to Europe. What emerges is a relentless eye-for-an-eye struggle in which familial violence, religious delusion, and a deadly pandemic interlock. This Gothic horror is a feverish descent into a hellish world that leads in only one direction: into the darkness.
