Gouzhen (2024)

After a long prison term, Lang returns to his hometown on the edge of the Gobi desert, but nothing is as it once was. The town is changing, buildings stand empty and decayed, stray dogs roam the deserted streets. A few weeks before the Beijing Olympics, authorities decide to take action against the growing number of homeless animals, especially the elusive "Black Dog" that terrorizes the residents. Lang, desperately seeking a new beginning, becomes part of a dog-catching team and unexpectedly develops a deep bond with the animal, which is as lonely and lost as he is. Together they embark on a journey that will not only change Lang's relationship with the dog, but also his own life forever.
